The competition gives team of students a set of themes central to the work we do here at Firemark Labs Australia. They will then be able to create their own idea that fits into one of these themes. Throughout the process, students will work in our incubator and have access to its resources across a range of startups and supporting staff, who are here to mentor and discuss your ideas. It’s an opportunity to learn the methodology we use to convert a market opportunity into a viable product.
The program will culminate in each team pitching their idea to our internal board. Successful teams will then have the opportunity to gain further work experience in our incubator and explore their idea in partnership with us.
“Bringing the outside in” by forming strong external partnerships is key to our strategy here at Firemark. Universities and their students are prime examples of such partnerships.
Entrepreneurship and innovation studies are a growing trends across Australian universities. We believe that there should be more done to provide the bridge between these studies and industry players that will eventually recruit these students. To that end, this program aims to appeal to those students looking for summer internships that deliver genuine real world experience.
